Celebrating Days of Significance

At Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, we are proud to recognize and honour the many cultures, identities, experiences, histories, and perspectives that make our community strong. Days of Significance play an important role in helping us learn from one another, celebrate diversity, and deepen our commitment to equity, inclusion, belonging, and human rights. 

On the first day of each month, we will publish a Days of Significance overview graphic that highlights the observances taking place throughout that month. These monthly posts will include links to additional information and resources available on the HWDSB website, helping our community learn more about the significance of each observance and its connection to fostering belonging and inclusion. 

This new approach allows us to recognize important dates in a consistent and respectful manner while ensuring our communications remain thoughtful, accessible, and educational. 

What will not change is our commitment to acknowledging Days of Significance and creating opportunities for learning, reflection, and dialogue. We will continue to honour observances that promote understanding, inclusion, belonging, and respect for the diverse communities we serve. 

Thank you for your ongoing partnership in helping us build welcoming and inclusive learning environments where every student, family, and staff member feels valued, seen, and respected.
